Is a 2005 blaster different then a 2000 blaster?

Ive got a Yamaha blaster i believe its a 2000 but not sure, but figured all the parts are the same at least according to the manual 88-05. I ordered a magneto for 05' but it has 1 too many wires (green) which i dont know what to do with. Is there a way to use this one instead and are the 2 years different as far as electronics? All matched up but no green...??? please help!!
