Isn't religion the product of evolution by supernatural selection?
Baal evolving into Yahweh; Judaism evolving into Christianity and Islam; Christianity evolving into Catholicism, Protestantism, Mormons, Quakers, Jehovah Witnesses etc; and a myriad of sects and cults; all of them memetic choices by supernatural selection.
