Why can't we end all entitlements?

Because entitlement programs for the disenfranchised is the only thing preventing proletariat revolution and the macre of America's wealthy. Continuing to take from the poor for the sake of the rich will eventually lead to revolution, and thanks to the Second Amendment, the revolution will be very bloody.
